We are a participatory journal and we value contributions from our readers.  We are requesting submissions on the subjects listed below.  Please contact  submissions@jflmag.com to submit your material or if you have any questions.

Here's what’s in store for our upcoming issues.

The Journey Series:

Issue 28: Modern Rites of Passage... When earth's people lived more in balance with the elements, most cultures held ceremonies to honor one's passage into varied moments of life. Young boys and girls transitioned into adulthood with the support of the community. Marriage, birth, and death were all vital times in a community's growth and were honored in tangible ways. Some traditions still maintain such ceremonies. However, too often we careen through life no longer noticing these transitional moments. Noticed or not, we all have them. Many of you have created your own modern rites of passage or, on reflection, recall an experience that acted as a symbolic measure of your movement in life. Please send us your stories.
The deadline for submissions for this issue is July 31, 2003.

Issue 29: Couples in Relationship... Now, here is one that takes up whole sections of bookstores and keeps thousands of marital counselors in business. There is the story of the Jewish man who falls in love and wants to marry a gentile woman. He goes to the Rabbi with his concern that their different faiths will prove an impediment to the marriage. In his wisdom, the Rabbi responds to the man saying: "Your difference of faith is nothing compared to the fact that you are a man and she is a woman." And so it goes. Being in a couple relationship, whether straight or otherwise, is probably the hardest work any of us will do. Send us stories that will support other readers in this challenging task.
The deadline for submissions for this issue is September 15, 2003.

Issue 30: Centering: Living a Balanced Life in a Hectic World... Finding our path in the face of materialism, isolation, addiction, depression. No matter who we are, we are all challenged to find and maintain our balance in day-to-day life.  The forces that pull us off center and out of our circle -- out of our spiritual base, our sense of community, our sense of purpose -- seem to grow stronger as the culture grows more mobile, more technologized, more accelerated.  In this issue, we want to hear from readers about their experiences of seeking or returning to their center, their place of "groundedness."
The deadline for submissions for this issue is December 15, 2003.

Issue 31: Oh, the Stories They Tell: The Blessings of Age... Our elders hold the wisdom of experience. Have you ever sat on the lap of a wizened grandparent or at the side of an admired elder and become entranced by the stories they tell? It is no accident that these times hold an aura of enchantment and mystery.  We are meant to embrace wisdom from those who have come before us, to use their experience to enhance our own ever-growing character. Send your own story of wisdom as an elder, or share with us the sentiments of someone you revere as a lesson-teacher from an older generation.
The deadline for submissions for this issue is March 15, 2004.
